We at Fortner know that we are blessed to live in a region that provides us with a healthy source of income and we want to help our neighbors to enjoy the benefit of our abundant renewable resources. That's why we have formed our Land Management company, the Tennessee Timber and Land Management Company. If you, your family or your business owns property with stands of trees on it, you could have money you didn't event know about.

We will be happy to review your property to give you an idea of it's value. We pay top dollar for quality stands of trees. We also practice Best Management Practices for erosion control and reforestation so that the value of your land will only increase. Area

We work in a 300 mile radius from our office in Lee County, VA., primarily in the timberlands of the tri-state area of Virginia, Tennessee and Kentucky and beyond that are rich with quality lumber, and Fortner does its best to ensure that heritage continues. The scenic Appalachian Mountains is an area that we're proud to call home.

Lumber and Logs

At B. J. Fortner Hardwoods, we're very particular about the timber we harvest. We don't just log every stand of trees that we see. The timber we select comes primarily from old-stand forests and older second-growth forests. Because of the top-of-the-line lasers and high-tech solutions that are part of our state-of-the-art sawmill, we are able to ensure that the quality of lumber and veneer logs you buy is the very best.

Species of trees

black walnut, red oak, white oak, hard maple, yellow poplar, true hickoryThe species of wood that Fortner has built its reputation on includes: black walnut for gun stocks, fine furniture and millwork; red oak for flooring, trim, furniture and cabinetry; white oak for architectural millwork, paneling, boats and furniture building, hard maple used in cabinetry.

We also have customers interested in yellow poplar, true hickory, soft maple, aromatic red cedar, ash, American bass wood, American beech, black gum, and cherry. From time to time we also have need of softwoods like soft pine and yellow pine.

The quality of our lumber, and attention to service, has allowed us to grow Fortner's into an international business concern. From our location in the heart of the Appalachian Mountains, we are able to easily transport our lumber around the world.
